Multispectral Imaging
Spectricity’s technology for a multispectral camera is ideal for mobile devices such as smartphones or AR headsets. The miniaturized multispectral imaging solutions are fully compatible with the size, power consumption and cost requirements of mobile devices. These multispectral cameras can act as companion sensors, cooperating and fusing data with other sensors in the devices (such as other image sensors or 3D depth sensors) to provide augmented data. This enables more robust applications, enhancing the user experience.
Thanks to the accurate measurement of colour using the spectrum of light, applications that would be impossible with standard RGB cameras become possible, from truer colors in color photography, to accurate detection of materials.
Our sensors are also ideal for other applications demanding high-volume, miniaturized spectral imaging solutions, such as the automotive, IoT or security camera markets.
Accurate Color Matching through Multispectral Imaging
Ever wanted to capture that lovely color you just saw, using you phone? Forget it, phones cannot measure color accurately. ❌ With Spectricity’s S1 multispectral camera, this becomes possible. Spectricity’s multispectral camera gets color right. ✅
According to our tests, in 85% of the cases, Spectricity’s detected colours cannot be distinguished from the true colour, as opposed to only 30% with a normal camera. This means that in 70% of cases, a normal camera outputs a color that’s just not right. Unlike standard RGB cameras, Spectricity’s multispectral camera enables significantly more accurate color identification.

True Colors through Multispectral Imaging AWB
Smartphone cameras are essentially color blind. Their automatic white balancing (AWB) algorithms often fail to resolve the correct white point, resulting in poor color fidelity (see the benchmark example across different lighting conditions using world’s most popular flagship phone). This is especially problematic in the presence of multiple illuminants or challenging scenes.
Spectricity’s multispectral imaging AWB detects illuminants more accurately in each area of the scene through their spectral signature. This results in true colors: improved color photography, accurate, unbiased skin tones, and personalized cosmetics for mobile devices. Check out more information about our AWB.
